How does Chromolite work?
The SmartlifeTM technology emits a dual band of yellow and red light which is particularly effective for both hair removal and skin rejuvenation. With hair removal, the red light targets the melanin within the hair shaft causing the follicle temperature to rise and the consequent destruction of the follicle, whilst the yellow light destroys the blood supply to the germ cells preventing any possibilty of re-growth. By using yellow light the chromolite can also be used effectively on blonde hair.
For skin rejuvenation the SmartlifeTM energy is increased allowing the yellow light to safely destroy vascular lesions such as facial veins, and the red light is used to reduce unwanted pigmentation.
What does the treatment involve?
It’s simple, you wear protective eyewear, lie back and relax while the chromolite operator moves the handpiece slowly over your skin firing the SmartliteTM exactly where required.
Chromolite is fast too, less than 30 minutes to treat both lower legs. Most people experience minimal discomfort, feeling no more than a slight tingling sensation. Cooling can be applied to the skin to minimise sensation. Chromolite can be used to treat any area of the body and on most skin types.
Prior to your treatment a trained chromolite operator will discuss in detail how chromolite works and assess if it is suitable for you. For some clients a test patch will need to be performed to observe the effect. You may see an immediate effect, but for removal it is not unusual for the hair to take up to 14 days to fall out of the destroyed follicle.
Does Chromolite have any side effects?
With the majority of treatments there are a little or no visible after-effects so you can resume your normal routine quickly. Some parts of the body are more sensitive than others and may redden or swell slightly; an aftercare gel can be applied to settle this within hours.
How many treatments are required?
For the hair removal the number of treatments required varies, depending on the density and location of the hair growth. Approximately 30% of the body hair growth is in a growing stage at any time. The remainder is dormant and unable to absorb light. Chromolite will destroy between 60% and 90% of the growing hair at each treatment. Most people require between 6 and 8 treatments, however extremely coarse, dense hair may take longer.
For an effective skin rejuvenation result a course of treatments may be required. The number required depends on the severity of the condition. Most people require between 3 to 5 treatments, however some conditions may only require 1 treatment.
Anything else I should be aware of?
Some people are more sensitive to light than others, so please help your operator by being completely honest when filling in the assessment form. Test patching is required to check your suitability for the treatment and will not necessarily reflect the result after completion of the treatment.
Avoid exposure to the sun and sun beds for at least 4 weeks before and after treatment. If you feel any discomfort during the treatment please tell your operator immediately.
